Description from the seller

Very rare 15th–16th century bronze Italian mortar in top condition
Top is 14.5 centimeters wide. Base is 8 cm wide.
Height is 9.5 centimeters.
Has two beautiful ears and 14 ribs. The patina is phenomenal for this very early antique bronze beauty.
Magnificent patina and signs of long use.
Similar mortars can be found in major museums and important collections.
The last two photos are of similar mortars, including the Victoria and Albert Museum. circa 1500
Pestle is 25 centimeters long.
The mortar shows many similarities (ribs and ears)
With the one in the Victoria and Albert Museum, made by Giuliano Mariotto de' Navi in Florence.
The mortar could also be from southern France, but I still see the strongest similarities with Italy.

In the inner rim there is a spot that may be an old restoration. It could also simply be an irregularity in the process.
On the outside of this spot there is nothing visible.
Name this for completeness in consultation with the expert
