Description from the seller
An elegant, desk inkwell made of 800-fine silver and thick crystal glass, originating from the renowned Florentine jewelry workshop Silvano Bernardi. The item was manufactured in Italy after 1968, as confirmed by the full official assay mark struck on the silver, containing a modern assay mark in the shape of a diamond with a star, the craftsman’s number 987, and the province symbol FI indicating Florence. The object is distinguished by a classical, geometric design reminiscent of the Art Deco style, with a distinctive octagonal base, a tight-fitting silver lid, and an integrated metal sleeve serving as a stable stand for a pen or nib holder. The condition of the silver is very good; it is covered with a natural, noble patina that can easily be polished to a high gloss. The substantial glass insert of pure crystal looks superb and maintains full transparency, with only a small, barely visible chip on one of the four side rims, which in no way affects stability or the overall, exceptional aesthetics of this luxurious desk accessory. This authentic example of Tuscan goldsmithing from the second half of the 20th century makes an excellent proposition for collectors and a unique adornment for a stylish study. Weight 203 g
