Three-piece set in silver-plated metal (Sheffield plate) from the United Kingdom, in good condition with minor signs of wear, antique style, each piece measuring approximately 14 × 13 × 13 cm.
Description from the seller
This refined triad in silvered metal (Sheffield plate) embodies the elegance of neoclassical and Victorian-inspired table and desk ware. The three pieces share a rich surface work in engraving and chasing, creating a visual thread that alternates between strict geometries and refined details.
The Hexagonal Jewellery Box (With Lid)
The first element of the set is a hexagonal-plan container, characterized by vertical walls entirely decorated with a dense pattern of geometric motifs and engraved arabesques. The lid, also hexagonal and slightly domed, repeats the same decoration and serves as an airtight closure. A standout feature is the upper pull-knob, a three-dimensionally fused metal figure depicting a stylized silhouette, ideal for safeguarding small jewelry or cufflinks.
The Tea Canister and Sugar Box (With Lid)
In the center of the group lies the most imposing piece: a container shaped with an octagonal plan with undulating and sinuous profiles. The surface is embellished with garland engravings and foliate motifs typical of the English silversmithing tradition. The domed lid, crowned by an elegant pinnacle-knob finished in bone or Bakelite, makes it perfect as a classic tea caddy or formal sugar box for the drawing room.
The Desk Letter- and Writing-Holder (Without Lid)
To complete the set is added an open-front container, without a lid, designed specifically for organizing writing. The structure features an elegantly arched upper profile and walls decorated with a geometric lattice motif (basket). The piece is distinguished by its four finely molded feet in the shape of lion’s paws and heads, a classic Sheffield-style detail that elevates the form and lends it a monumental and authoritative character.
