Description from the seller
Pair of WMF Art Deco Brass Vases – Model 82 – Germany, c. 1920–1930
Beautiful and rare pair of original Art Deco / Secessionist vases from the renowned German manufacturer WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik). This harmonious set of two vases is executed in gold-bright brass (yellow copper) with a characteristic hammered texture on the elegant, flared neck. The heavy, wide foot is around its circumference adorned with a very detailed relief edge featuring stylized ornaments, characteristic of the high-quality metalwork from the early 20th century.
Both vases bear on the underside the official, impressed WMF master mark: the well-known ostrich walking to the left in a diamond, placed in a shaded shield with a curved top (in use between ca. 1920 and 1930). Below this is the stamp "ANT" (Antique Finish / Altsilber-Tönung), indicating factory patination, followed by the model number "82".
The vases are in a beautiful, authentic vintage condition with a atmospheric, well-worn patina that enhances the historic appearance. A stunning and iconic collectible for lovers of European design.
