A set of three signet stamp handles in 800 silver, stamped and made in Italy, dating to 1960–1970, each about 9.2 cm tall and 2.1 cm wide/deep, in good condition with signs of age and minor stains.
Description from the seller
Set of three handles for a seal stamp in 800 silver, hallmarked – Italy, early 20th century
Refined handles for a seal stamp made of solid 800 silver, as confirmed by the present hallmark. The three pieces, of fine artisanal workmanship, represent different interpretations of the decorative style of the period.
The objects feature refined floral motifs and scrolls in the Art Nouveau style, finely relief-engraved. The decorations vary among them, making the workmanship not identical but harmoniously combined, a typical feature of bespoke commissions or the creative reutilization of antique elements. The sinuous lines and the engraved work highlight the brilliance of the silver and testify to a high level of attention to detail.
The handles are internally filled with putty, as is traditional in antique production, to confer solidity and a balanced weight. The bases are prepared to receive the matrix engraved in brass or hard stone, today absent, which once would have completed the personal or family seals.
Authentic objects of great charm, ideal as desk accessories, for silver collectors or for enthusiasts of antique writing instruments.
