Mackmyra’s NOXX is one of three whiskies in the Galaxy series. This malt, of which only 48 bottles were bottled, pays homage to the Bear Group—the largest and brightest open star cluster in the night sky—and was aged in a second-fill bourbon cask numbered 5388. The malt is neither chill-filtered nor colored. Sweden’s once-leading whisky distillery, Mackmyra, was founded in 1998 and was located in the city of Gävle, 170 km north of Stockholm. Only local ingredients were used in production. The Swedish distillery Mackmyra filed for bankruptcy in August 2024, primarily due to ongoing profitability and liquidity issues. Despite its innovative spirit and a 25-year history, the company no longer had sufficient financial resources to continue operations following critical situations in the previous year
