Fez platter - Ceramic - Morocco - late 19th century

This ceramic plate features a complex geometric and floral motif in cobalt blue on a white tin-glazed background.

In the center sits an eight-pointed star with stylized Arabic calligraphy, surrounded by alternating fields with crisscrossing patterns and floral motifs.

This style is characteristic of Fez's pottery traditions, Morocco, which flourished from the 18th century onward, blending Andalusian influences with local North African motifs. The dish is in good condition; the base has a number of chips due to age.
