Description from the seller
Fascinating manifesto by the famous French illustrator Paul Colin, created for Le Train Fantôme, an iconic theatrical work with a strong visual and atmospheric impact.
Note: This is a later edition from the 1970s.
The work represents one of the most evocative subjects in Colin’s graphic repertoire, with a dynamic and almost cinematic composition: the locomotive emerges from the fog in a scene loaded with tension, while the stylized figure in the foreground helps create a sense of mystery and modernity typical of French Art Deco.
A graphic with great elegance and expressive power, characterized by an intense color palette (reds, blacks and smoky shades) and a refined line that recalls the avant-gardes between the 1920s and 1930s. Paul Colin, among the leading poster designers in Europe, is known for having revolutionized the advertising and theatrical poster with a distinctive style, comparable in importance to Cappiello and Cassandre.
