Clear glass Art Deco perfume miniature by Marcel Pautot from Grasse, France; depth 6.6 cm, width 2.5 cm, height 2 cm, weight 30 g, in excellent condition with only minor signs of wear.
Description from the seller
Marcel PAUTOT (1886-1963) was the perfume bottle creator from Grasse in the South of France.
Rare small animal-shaped perfume bottle pouch (empty and not sealed) by Mr. Pautot for Ch. Grant Perfumes - (1920s).
It is made of colorless pressed and moulded glass depicting a cicada, emblem of Provence and the town of Grasse in the South; its head acts as the stopper, with its original external ventral label bearing the inscription « Parfum Heliotrope Ch. Grant ». At the neck its silver-stamped label titled in Provençal reads «Mon amou es lou souleou».
On the ventral face with the label, it is signed in the mass on the right wing with the monogram « MP », confirming that the model was indeed designed and created by the Grasse sculptor M. Pautot, and on the left wing the inscription « DÉPOSÉ ». Height: 6.6 cm.
We note possibly a very small flaw at the tip of the cicada’s nose that does not affect the visual quality of the piece.
