Perignem Brutalist Red Ceramic Decorative Bowl, handcrafted glazed stoneware from Belgium (circa the 1960s), in modern Belgian Brutalist style, with a 25 cm diameter, 25 cm width and 8 cm height, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Perignem Brutalist Red Ceramic Decorative Bowl
Manufacturer: Perignem, Belgium (marked on the base)
Year: circa 1960s
Material: Handcrafted glazed stoneware / ceramic
Style: Belgian Modernist and Brutalist studio pottery
Striking decorative bowl produced by Perignem, one of Belgium’s most respected post-war ceramic ateliers. Founded in 1948, Perignem became known for its expressive glazes, architectural forms, and bold color palettes that defined Flemish modern ceramics of the 1950s and 1960s.
This example features a vivid red glaze combined with a geometric sunburst decoration in relief, creating a strong visual presence characteristic of the period. The contrast between the textured central medallion and the deep red glazed surface reflects the atelier’s distinctive artistic approach.
Condition is good vintage condition with age-related wear, minor glaze irregularities, and firing-related characteristics consistent with handcrafted studio pottery. The item will be shipped exactly as shown; please review the photographs carefully.
Perignem pieces from the mid-20th century are increasingly sought after by collectors of Belgian ceramics and European studio pottery. The bowl is representative of the revival of Flemish artistic ceramics during the post-war period and illustrates the bold decorative language for which the atelier became known.
