Description from the seller
Gold 750 (18 kt) brooch with a hand-painted miniature and fired enamel – 1990s – 6.7 g – Italian craftsmanship, probably origin Arezzo,
Elegant 750 (18 kt) gold brooch made in Italy in the 1970s-1980s, enriched by a hand-painted miniature with fired enamel technique, one of the most precious and complex processes in artistic jewelry.
The gold frame features a hand-made rope-work, typical of Italian artisanal jewelry of the period.
The back is equipped with the original pin and clasp, perfectly functional. On the back there is a 750 assay mark, a tiny factory mark and serial number, confirming laboratory production. Technical details on fired enamel. The central miniature is made with the hand-painted fired enamel technique, not a print nor a decal. This technique involves: applying colored enamels one layer at a time. Each layer is fired in a kiln at temperatures between 750°C and 850°C. Each firing fixes the color and allows for increasingly fine details. The result is a vibrant, glossy image that remains unaltered over time. Each piece is unique, because enamel painting cannot be replicated identically. Fired enamel is today a nearly vanished technique, practiced only by a few master enamellers, and for this reason highly sought after by collectors.
The scene depicts two figures, an adult and a child, in an intimate and delicate setting.
The colors are bright, perfectly fused into the enamel, with a painterly quality that attests to the hand of an experienced artisan.
