The vase "Michelangelo" is one of the most famous and successful historic designs of French Baccarat crystal.
The design and workmanship are Renaissance-inspired; the dense geometric and symmetric decorations echo the floral arabesques, scrolls, and draperies typical of the Italian Renaissance.
This refined lattice is not hand-engraved but is impressed onto the transparent blown crystal by acid-guided corrosion, which allows for very small and regular details.
