Stipula L'Himalaya fountain pen in ivory resin with gold-plated trim and an 18k two-tone nib size 5 Medium, produced in France in the late 20th century as edition 866/1000, in excellent condition and in working order, 14.7 cm long and 1.5 cm in diameter, accompanied by its original Certificate of Authenticity.
Description from the seller
A0000005125
The fountain pen is presented in magnificent general condition, showing evidence of extremely careful prior use and excellent maintenance, presenting itself as an identical and ideal opportunity for daily use as well as for integrating high-end collections where author design and the culture of writing meet.
The body and cap, made of the famous Stipula precious white ivory-colored resin, maintain an impeccable, clean structure, free of cracks, fissures, bites, or any deformities. When held to the light, only subtle and fine surface handling marks (hairlines) derived from honest storage and use are visible, preserving the surreal illustrations and the medical homage texts printed with absolute clarity. The silkscreen signature of Pierre-Yves Trémois on the finial is perfectly defined.
The gold-plated details (the decorative rings and the imposing serpentine sculpture clip that pays homage to the Asclepius staff) appear bright and in superb condition, with no gold wear or signs of wear from friction or ink corrosion. The clip maintains its original firm and perfect tension.
The superb solid 18-karat bi-tone nib is the piece’s grande finale: visually impeccable, perfectly aligned, clean and without deformation in its feeds or lower section. This nib, which clearly displays the Stipula Florentine manufacture’s three towers logo, is size number 5 and balanced to a Medium point (M), promising writing of extraordinary native softness and flexibility highly valued by calligraphy enthusiasts.
The cap closure mechanism operates with completely smooth, firm, and fluid action, offering the right resistance that ensures the internal seal functions correctly to retain ink with full airtightness. It is worth highlighting that the lot is presented as a collection set of the highest integrity, accompanied by its original official Certificate of Authenticity documenting its Limited Edition status with the exact serial number 866 / 1000, bearing the artist’s own printed signature.
Overall, this is an extraordinary specimen of one of the most artistic and conceptual writing instruments from the Franco-Italian collaboration, distinguished by its 18K nib in Medium point and a strictly limited run of 1,000 units worldwide, optimally preserved and ready to be inked or displayed in a showcase.
Care recommendations
To preserve the optimal functioning of this high-end piece, it is recommended to use exclusively high-quality fountain inks and to avoid entirely caligraphy inks or technical drawing inks (India ink), as they could clog the internal passage. With a white ivory-colored resin body, it is advised to clean the grip section with a microfiber cloth slightly dampened after each refill to prevent the dark pigments from the ink from staining the material in the long term. If not going to be used for an extended period, a deep cleaning with clean warm water until it runs clear is advised, storing the pen completely dry and protected from direct sunlight.
