Montegrappa rollerball pen, Euro 2002 Limited Edition, in blue variegated precious resin with solid 925 silver details, made in Italy, serial number 054/266, 14.1 cm long and 1.2 cm in diameter, in excellent condition and in working order, includes blue lacquered presentation case and original edition documentation.
Description from the seller
The rollerball is presented in magnificent overall condition, evidencing exceptionally careful prior use and excellent maintenance, ideal for daily use as well as for integrating high-end collections of the most select limited editions of the Italian manufacture.
The body and cap, made in the famous blue veined resin that Montegrappa is renowned for, maintain an impeccable, clean structure, free of cracks, fissures, bites, or any deformations. When held up to the light, only subtle, fine surface handling marks (hairlines) are visible, derived from storage and honest use, preserving an extraordinary mirror-like shine that contrasts sublime with the metal cap.
The details and the intricate filigree cut in solid 925 sterling silver (the body continental map, the meridians, the clip, and the upper crown) appear brilliant and in magnificent condition, showing a clean patina with no losses or wear to the reliefs of the chiseling. The clip with its legendary revolving ball maintains its original firm and perfect tension, and the Montegrappa mark reads with absolute clarity.
At the flat bottom base of the piece is displayed, with deep and perfect engraving, the prestigious serial number 054 / 266, formally certifying that this is the coveted number 54 from a strictly limited micro-run worldwide of only 266 units in rollerball format. Just beneath, the official marks of the Italian goldsmiths are flawless: the purity seal 925 and the official diamond-shaped stamp ★ 1055 VI that identifies the workshop’s historic registration in Montegrappa’s Vicenza province.
The writing section is the grande jewel of the piece in its category: visually impeccable, clean, and crowned by a superb sculpted solid silver conical tip in perfect condition, promising writing of extraordinary smoothness and fluency, characteristic of the Bassano del Grappa firm’s engineering.
The screw-on cap mechanism turns completely smoothly, firmly, and fluidly, offering the proper resistance that guarantees the set closes with total precision and airtightness. It is worth noting that the piece is presented as a complete collection set, accompanied by its blue lacquered luxury case, original edition documentation, and the firm’s original cloth.
Overall, this is an extraordinary example from one of the world’s most iconic themed limited series, distinguished by superb craftsmanship in sterling silver and an extremely low run of only 266 pieces, optimally preserved and ready to be used or displayed in a cabinet.
Preservation recommendations
To preserve the optimal operation of this high-end piece, it is recommended to use only original Montegrappa rollerball refills or high-quality compatible ones. As it is plated in 925 sterling silver, it is natural that over time the metal may show subtle oxidation from contact with air; it is advised to clean it periodically by gently rubbing with the specific silver cloth included in the case, avoiding abrasive chemical products. If it will not be used for an extended period, it is recommended to remove the ink cartridge and store it in its case protected from direct sunlight and extreme humidity.
Happy bidding!
