Montblanc 644 fountain pen with a gold-plated cap and 14k gold nib, long 13.5 cm with a 1.2 cm diameter, made in Germany in the mid-20th century, in used but good condition and fully functional.
Description from the seller
A0000003792
The Montblanc 644 fountain pen we present is in a very attractive state of preservation, exhibiting an elegant and well-maintained presence that reflects careful use over time.
The body and section, made of high-quality black resin, retain a deep and uniform shine. Very slight micro-scratches indicative of vintage use can be seen only at close inspection, but overall the material remains well preserved, with no cracks or deformations and a clean overall aesthetic.
The gold-plated metal cap shows a natural patina that is very characteristic and gives the piece a pleasant vintage character. The surface shows even and elegant wear marks from the passage of time that do not affect the cap’s structural integrity. The clip retains its proper shape and functionality, maintaining good fit and alignment.
At the top of the cap the Montblanc emblem is clearly visible, well defined and properly seated. The model number engraving “644” on the heel remains visible, contributing to correctly identifying this reference within the brand’s classic series.
The original Montblanc 14-karat (14C) gold nib is in very good condition, with crisp engravings and no structural deformations. The tip shows correct alignment and maintains its proper shape, showing normal signs of use compatible with the piece’s age.
The ebonite feed is clean and well preserved, maintaining its intact structure and ink-feed function.
The pen has been inspected and tested, delivered fully functional and ready for use, as is customary with pieces prepared by Collecting Legacy.
Overall, this is a Montblanc 644 with a very attractive vintage aesthetic, where the metallic cap patina adds personality without compromising the piece’s overall good condition.
Conservation recommendations
To keep this fountain pen in optimal condition, it is recommended to use high-quality inks specific for fountain pens, avoiding pigmented inks or those with particles. If not used for an extended period, it should be cleaned with warm water, dried completely before storage, and kept in a dry place away from direct light and extreme temperatures. The mechanism should be operated gently at all times to ensure its proper durability.
It will be shipped in a courtesy box for proper conservation.
