On offer is an old fine full sized german violin, labeled: Jacobus Stainer in Absam prope Oenipontum 17?? made in Germany.
The total length of the violin is 586 mm, body – 355 mm. Width of the upper bout: 167 mm; middle: 112 mm; lower: 204 mm. The instrument is ready to play with tears and wears but no cracks, old ebony set up and old master made bridge "Karel Vavra Prague". The violin has one piece back made from beautiful softly flamed maple with matched sides, neck and scroll; the table is likewise matching of high quality, high to medium grained spruce. The purfling has been painstakingly inlaid front and back. Original golden brown reddish varnish over lighter ground.
