Parade plate in maiolica by Ceramiche Fantechi, Italy, from the early 20th century, 35 cm in diameter with a 2 cm height and 35 cm depth, featuring a neo-Renaissance din scene of two classical warriors fighting on a cobalt blue ground, verso with the blue monogram of the Sesto Fiorentino manufactory; in good condition with minor material flaws and signs of age.
Description from the seller
This parading majolica plate from Ceramiche Fantechi, from the early 1900s, features a refined neo-Renaissance decor with a lively scene of combat between two classical warriors at the center of the cavetto. The rim is richly adorned with grotesques, winged dragons, and cornucopias in ochre tones, standing out against the deep cobalt blue background.
The back shows the characteristic monogram of the Sesto Fiorentino manufactory painted in blue.
Diameter 35 cm
Good condition, with slight material flaws and signs of time and normal use for its age. Chipping and losses as shown in the photos, to be considered part of the plate’s age.
