Description from the seller
She steps out of the water or is about to dive in — it doesn’t matter. What counts is that gaze. Swimming goggles pushed up on the forehead, black hair slicked back, carmine lips: this swimmer looks at the spectator with a quiet confidence that has nothing to prove. Behind her, the red water lines of the swimming lanes trace rhythmic diagonals on the turquoise water.
Le Yack turns a sporty portrait into an icon. There is something of Tamara de Lempicka in this Art Deco frontality, something timeless in this beauty that does not smile. She is not there to please — she is there to swim.
