Description from the seller
Marcello Giorgio - Large sculpture of a Duck in Laminated Silver
Signature and logo of Marcello Giorgio
Italy
1980s
Dimensions cm 15 x 6.5 x 9
Weight 474 g
This large-scale sculpture is entirely covered with a sheet of silver with the corresponding stamp Laminated Ag, and it was made by Italian silversmith Marcello Giorgio in the second half of the 20th century.
It is signed Marcello Giorgio and bears the author's identifying mark, a stylized and smiling sun.
The works are recognizable by their high descriptive quality and the ability to render very detailed, as well as by a certain originality; one can notice the plumage described in a meticulous, realistic, and academic manner, interrupted by smooth field areas bounded by incised black lines, around the neck and under the wings, which give the sculpture a unique and extremely decorative Deco style.
The insertion of two small glass spheres emulating eyes completes the piece, making it very expressive.
It is a sculpture of great decorative value and fine craftsmanship, and thus has been well preserved over time. Some slight signs of oxidation do not diminish its beauty and value.
