Italian inlaid wooden casket dating from circa 1900–1910, made of cedar and other woods, measuring 27 × 19 × 10 cm with a sturdy solid structure and a keyless lock.
Description from the seller
Large inlaid box in precious woods and fragrant cedar – Geometric marquetry – 20th century
Splendid tabletop box with a strong decorative presence, made during the 20th century and enriched by a refined marquetry decoration executed in full (all around). The entire surface is covered by a complex geometric composition obtained by juxtaposing different wood essences, with elegant lozenge motifs, inlays and marquetry that recall the best Italian cabinetmaking tradition.
Particularly striking is the lid, dominated by a large central diamond motif made with tiny wooden tiles laid in a checkerboard, enclosed by a double inlaid frame that gives depth and visual richness to the whole. The same level of craftsmanship continues on the four sides, completely decorated with coordinated geometric motifs.
The interior is made of genuine cedar wood, still pleasantly scented today, a detail that testifies to the object's quality of construction and the use of carefully selected materials. The structure rests on four shaped feet that enhance its elegance and dramatic presence.
Our interior designer/decorator recommends: used on a desk, an entry console, a bookcase, or a living room coffee table, this box immediately adds warmth, character and authenticity to the environment. Perfect in classic, colonial, English or contemporary interiors where wood and traditional craftsmanship take a leading role in the furniture.
Dimensions: 27 x 19 x 10.5 cm.
Condition: very good. Normal and light traces of time compatible with the object's age. Inlays well preserved, solid and stable structure. Lock present but without the original key. Interior clean and in excellent condition.
Photos are an integral part of the description. Guaranteed careful packaging entrusted to sector professionals.
