Description from the seller
TIFFANY COLLECTION
A pencil drawing on paper by ANTONIO BUENO (1918-1984), one of the most significant Italian artists of the 20th century. The work, realized in 1977, measures 28 x 33.5 cm, mounted in a beautiful lacquered frame 32 x 40 x 2 cm, signed in the upper right, authenticated on the back, authenticity certified on a photograph by his daughter, certificate of guarantee, in excellent condition.
The preparatory sketch for this drawing is published in the General Catalogue of Antonio Bueno’s Works, published by Mondadori, Archive No. 197.
Antonio Bueno trained artistically in Spain and Switzerland; in 1937 he exhibited very young at the Salon des Jeunes in Paris. In 1940 he moved to Italy, to Fiesole, with his brother Xavier; both were later naturalized Italians. He experimented with different expressive modes: from Realism to Abstraction. His figures with rounded heads, young men dressed in sailor outfits, and firefighters (like the one offered here) remain memorable. He achieved his definitive consecration at the Venice Biennale in 1984, a few months before his premature death.
The work, in excellent condition, will be shipped well packed, via Poste Italiane.
