Vase - Earthenware - Antique Capasone

This object is a capasone, a typical terracotta container of the Italian tradition, especially in Puglia, dating back to the early 20th century. These vessels were handmade by local artisans and were mainly used for the preservation and transport of olive oil or wine. The external glaze, often of a characteristic ochre yellow or amber color, served both decorative purposes and to render the container waterproof. Material: terracotta with partial or total glaze, often characterized by the drips typical of artisanal craftsmanship, a bulbous body with two vertical handles and a narrow base, designed to be rotated during movement.
