Tile (3) - 2000-2010 - Three Portuguese Tiles

Triplet of decorative Portuguese ceramic tiles in maiolica on terracotta, hand-painted in cobalt blue on a white glazed background.

The lot consists of three coordinated pieces, each with a different marine subject: fish, octopus, and crabs.

The three tiles share the same elongated shape, scalloped edge, and double blue decorative line, creating a cohesive and highly decorative ensemble.

Each azulejo is made according to traditional artisanal workmanship: terracotta base, white glaze, hand-painted decoration, and subsequent firing.

Visible brushstrokes, slight surface irregularities, and small differences between pieces attest to the handcrafted process and make each item unique.
