AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Beautiful and iconic 8-piece ceramic fish service set from the renowned German manufacturer Wächtersbach (Wächtersbacher Steingutfabrik). This timeless relief-design in the shape of fish was originally designed in the early 20th century (circa 1901–1906) by the artist Adolf Müller for the Darmstadt Artists' Colony. The pieces are finished in a cream glaze with refined sepia-gray and lilac-purple hand-painted details around the heads and fins.

Given the original stamp on the underside (Waechtersbach with a crowned shield and "Made in Germany"), this specific set dates from the 1930s to 1940s.

The set consists of 8 pieces:
- 1x Large soup or fish terrine with lid
- 1x Sauce bowl on a fixed platter
- 1x Large serving bowl / herring bowl
- 1x Small side plate / fish plate

Note regarding the plates: 2 of the 4 large flat plates show dark stains/discolorations under the glaze (see detail photos). The remaining 2 plates, the terrine, the sauce bowl, the small plate and the large platter are in very nice condition.
