A very fine old 3/4 violin, labeled "Giovanni Pistucci Napoli 1903". This instrument is in good condition with some small repaired cracks on top, new rosewood pegs, new bridge and old Dominant strings. The violin shows a very careful selection of wood in the making. The violin has an excellent straight high to medium grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of irregular flamed maple with matched sides and scroll. Rich golden amber reddish varnish shows an amazing wooden choice. Inlaid purfling on top and back. The whole length of the violin is 549 mm and the back 332 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 153 mm; middle bouts: 106 mm; lower bouts: 189 mm. 3/4 size. The sound is very good, mellow, rich and powerful.
