A fine and rare Japanese rectangular lacquer tray, beautifully adorned with exquisite maki-e decoration and finished with a classic silver-toned metal rim.
This rectangular tray captures the timeless elegance of traditional Japanese lacquerware.
The surface features meticulous maki-e (sprinkled gold powder) decoration, depicting a poetic branch of blooming camellias (tsubaki) with finely detailed petals and leaves, offset by a delicate scattering of gold dust (maki-bokashi) against a rich, lustrous black lacquer background.
The execution of the maki-e showcases remarkable depth and texture, catching the light beautifully from different angles.
Enhancing its refined structure, the tray is finished with a metal-mounted rim (fukurin) in a polished silver tone, providing a striking contrast to the warm tones of the lacquer and ensuring both durability and a high-status aesthetic.
