This magnificent vase is an artisanal traditional pottery piece, very characteristic of North African crafts, and more precisely of Moroccan pottery from the 60s/70s.

The style, colors, and patterns are typic ally Moroccan pottery from the city of Safi. Safi is the capital of pottery in Morocco, particularly renowned for pieces with yellow and ochre backgrounds and its complex hand-painted motifs.

This is a terracotta piece covered with a tin glaze, fully hand-painted before being fired a second time.

The base is rough, uneven, with traces of firing and glaze that has run a little. It is the typical signature of a handmade work on a traditional potter’s wheel, far from smooth industrial productions.

Ce magnifique vase est une poterie artisanale traditionnelle, très caractéristique de l'artisanat d'Afrique du Nord, et plus précisément du Maroc des années 60/70.

Le style, les couleurs et les motifs correspondent typiquement à la céramique marocaine de la ville de Safi.
Safi est la capitale de la poterie au Maroc, particulièrement réputée pour ses pièces aux fonds jaunes, ocres et ses motifs complexes peints à la main.

Il s'agit d'une terre cuite recouverte d'un émail stannifère (glaçure), entièrement peinte à la main avant d'être cuite une seconde fois.

La base est brute, irrégulière, avec des traces de cuisson et d'émail qui a un peu coulé. C'est la signature typique d'un travail fait main sur un tour de potier traditionnel, loin des productions industrielles lisses.
