TekoTeko from a private collection, very finely carved. Rare, good condition

Presentation: Traditionally, it is a humanoid figure, often placed on the gable of a meeting house (Wharenui) to protect the tribe.

Material: light, hard wood

Details: Typically detailed Moko (tattoo patterns) on the face and on the body.

Eyes: Often inlaid with paua shells (Abalone) to create an intense, spiritual gaze.
