Six crystal Prunkgläser by Josephinenhütte, from Silesia (Germany, now Poland), dated to 1970–1980, height 26 cm.
Description from the seller
Museales Set: Josephinenhütte Prunkgläser – Art Nouveau (ca. 1900)
Manufacturer: Josephinenhütte, Silesia (Glatz County).
Period: Around 1900, the heyday of Art Nouveau.
Condition: Excellent, display pieces, no damage or chips.
Origin: Silesia (then Germany, today Poland – Szklarska Poręba).
Artistic Description:
A spectacular series of opulent glasses, distinguished by the sculptural design of their stems. The organically shaped stems of colored glass (amethyst, cobalt blue, emerald green) wind around the goblets like stylized vines. The goblets themselves are blown from extremely thin opal glass (Lattimo), creating an elegant contrast to the elaborate bases.
Quality Features:
Craftsmanship: Impressive height of 27 cm, with completely handcrafted stems ("a lume" technique).
Material: Historic Kali crystal. The glasses have a balanced, medium weight – neither massive like modern lead crystal nor light like ordinary glass – which confirms the specific density of luxurious manufactories from this era.
Collector Value: An absolute rarity due to the structural integrity of the branched stems. They are premier investment pieces for discerning glass collectors.
A sculptural elegance and a symbol of European glass art at the turn of the century.
