Made in the middle of the 20th century in Italy, specifically in the Tuscany region.
The Savonarola is a folding chair, foldable like a book and composed of serpentine curved elements and X-crossed. The backrest represents the lily, the Florentine symbol, while it is wrapped in floral decorations.

The term "Savonarola" derives from the name Girolamo Savonarola (1452 - 1498), during whose time a chair of this type—still preserved in his cell at the San Marco monastery in Florence, where he lived from 1482 until his death—would date.

In good overall condition, normal signs of wear and age (see photos). The chair has recently been restored with termite treatment and wax for wood care. Dimensions: 90 cm height x 60 cm length.
