Large English Silver-Plated Champagne Cooler with Lion Head Handles – Mid 20th Century
An elegant and generously sized champagne cooler, crafted in England and marked “Silver on Copper – Made in England”, dating to the mid-20th century.
This classic piece features a beautifully shaped, gently scalloped rim with a refined beaded edge, resting on a stepped circular foot. The sides are adorned with striking lion head handles holding large rings, a timeless decorative motif inspired by earlier Georgian and Regency designs.
The cooler is made using the traditional method of silver plating over copper, which provides both durability and a rich, warm tone beneath the silver layer—typical of high-quality English tableware of the period.
Designed to accommodate multiple bottles, it is perfect for entertaining, champagne service, or as a statement centerpiece in an elegant interior.
Condition:
In good vintage condition with normal signs of use. The interior base shows scratches and some wear with minor copper showing through, consistent with age and use. The exterior remains attractive with a nice shine.
