Description from the seller
Eustaquio Segrelles (1936–2025)
Countryside Scene
Oil on canvas
Framed measurements: 76 x 60 cm
Magnificent oil on canvas by the Valencian painter Eustaquio Segrelles del Pilar, heir to the renowned Segrelles artistic dynasty. The scene portrays two peasants at work, under a Mediterranean light that the artist masters with proficiency. The loose, expressive brushwork, together with the chromatic balance, give the whole a living and authentic character.
Born in Albaida (Valencia) in 1936 and passing away in 2025, Segrelles trained at the School of Fine Arts of San Carlos and built a long career devoted to genre realism and the portrait of rural life. His work was widely recognized in national and international exhibitions, establishing him as one of the great representatives of contemporary Valencian luminism.
The work shows light surface dirt and some minor overpainting, without affecting its overall readability or its notable pictorial quality."
