Antique speculaas board with stacked tableaux, late 19th/early 20th century

Hand-carved speculaas board in solid wood, presumably end of the 1800s or early 1900s. The board shows a vertical sequence of stacked scenes and figures in fine carving, a typical layout for boards used to shape several small cookies at once.
The wood has a deep, dark patina that develops only with age and years of use. Boards of this age with intact carving are increasingly rare. A beautiful collectible or eye-catcher on the wall in a country kitchen.

Antieke speculaasplank met gestapelde taferelen, eind 19e/begin 20e eeuw

Handgesneden speculaasplank in vol hout, vermoedelijk eind 1800 of begin 1900. De plank toont een verticale reeks gestapelde taferelen en figuren in fijn snijwerk, een typische opbouw voor planken waarmee meerdere kleine koeken in één keer werden gevormd.
Het hout heeft een diepe, donkere patine die alleen door leeftijd en jarenlang gebruik ontstaat. Planken van deze ouderdom met intact snijwerk worden steeds zeldzamer. Een mooi verzamelobject of blikvanger aan de muur in een landelijke keuken.
