Description from the seller
Croci Briar Pipe.
Croci pipes are created by Paolo and Gianni Croci of Mantua, Lombardy. The company was founded in 1983, and on every pipe you will find the inscription that reads "dal 1983". Each and every pipe is handmade with Italian plateau briar aged. This is a company that does not manufacture identical pipes, and indeed they create some masterpieces, such as the one now offered at auction, for its originality and elegance of its shapes. The pipes born from the hands of these craftsmen are all different. This means that the owner of a Croci pipe possesses something totally unique.
This [pipe] is a precious and elegant example in a classic style, with a silhouette reminiscent of a Dublin, since the bowl widens slightly toward the top and has a flat or semi-flat base. It features a clean transition to a straight shank and a mouthpiece with a subtle anatomical curve toward the bite.
It is made of briar wood with a glossy polished finish in a reddish-brown or caramel tone.
The quality of the briar is notable. On the sides of the bowl there is a clearly defined straight grain, while the top of the hearth shows a very striking and textured birdseye pattern.
At the junction between the wooden neck and the mouthpiece, there is an elegant silver ring (possibly sterling silver) decorated with a geometric diamond-shaped guilloché pattern.
Mouthpiece: It is made of acrylic or resin with a veined Cumberland or faux tortoiseshell finish, blending dark brown, reddish tones and amber highlights. Near the junction, there is a subtle ornamental detail: a fine gold line with a dot.
On the shaft of the pipe there are several engraved marks in the wood:
On the left side there is a textured circular logo.
On the right side the engraved inscriptions indicate its Italian artisanal origin. It reads:
"fatta a mano" (handmade).
"Mantova - Italia" (Mantua, Italy).
"dal 1983" (since 1983).
It is an elegant, collectible piece, of excellent Italian artisanal craftsmanship with a very aesthetic wood grain.
The pipe measures 13 cm in length. Bowl height 4.5 cm. Diameter 3.8 cm. Weight 45 grams.
The pipe has been sanitized with isopropyl alcohol. The bowl has been cleaned with Nikosolvol, and it has been polished with colorless carnauba wax. Its state of conservation and aesthetics, as seen in the photos, is impeccable.
