Chelyabinsk meteorite nano individuals - 8 g

The meteor, rushing toward the Earth at 18 km per second on February 15, 2013, about 20 m in size, was greatly decelerated by the Earth's atmosphere. The energy released caused a massive explosion whose shock wave damaged 3,700 buildings. The meteor was torn apart, causing a meteor shower of thousands of pieces to rain down, often meteorites weighing only a few grams, but pieces weighing several kilograms were also recovered. The Chelyabinsk meteor fall, due to its intensity and its good video documentation, will be found in every future literary meteorite work. Sound recordings of a superbolide were also made for the first time. Chelyabink shows very different textures; the asteroid was not homogeneous. Alongside bright, unshocked rock, some pieces display fine networks of shock veins, others consist entirely of dark melts and melt breccias formed by collisions of earlier asteroids.
