Description from the seller
Andy Warhol portrayed Prince Charles (now Charles III) and Diana, Princess of Wales, in 1982, shortly after their glamorous wedding, using his characteristic silkscreen technique. These works, often exhibited as a diptych, turned the royal couple into pop icons, following Warhol's style of transforming celebrities into commercial art.
Key details of Warhol's portrait of Charles:
Creation: Produced in 1982, a year after the royal wedding.
Style: Ink on canvas with vibrant colors and the pop art silkscreen technique.
History: Although initially conceived as a gift to the couple, the portraits were sold to a private collector.
Later Sale: In 2011, London's Opera Gallery put the diptych of Charles and Diana up for sale for 2 million pounds. There are few units for sale on the market.
The work is in perfect condition, never exhibited. With copyright Andy Warhol Foundation. Created on high-quality, dense paper, high grammage and glossy satin. Dimensions 43x34 cm. It is shipped perfectly protected and with tracking code.
