Montblanc - Honorè De Balzac - Ballpoint pen

The Montblanc Writers Edition 2013 is a prestigious limited series dedicated to the renowned French writer Honoré de Balzac. Balzac's initials are finely engraved, in a typeface characteristic of the era, on the nib in solid 18k gold (750). The decorative rings of the pen represent the three main French social classes of the 19th century, masterfully depicted in La Comédie humaine: the upper ring of the cap, sumptuous and adorned with gold finishes, symbolizes the nobility; the central ring represents the bourgeoisie, while the simple ring placed on the section alludes to the less affluent classes. The design and shape of the pen reflect Balzac's imposing figure and style. The nib section, in particular, evokes the pointed shoes the writer was accustomed to wearing.
