Description from the seller
Four antique vases, (opaline) glass,
France, 1st half of the 20th century.
The largest vase made of opaline glass has a light-green surface
with a hand-painted depiction of flowers and a bird.
Summarily applied details are added with glass enamel.
A fairly smooth, slightly hollow base.
Height 26 cm, diameter 12 cm.
The other two vases are identical in subject.
The images are identical but mirrored.
Executed in matte glass with hand-applied decoration in painting and glass enamel.
Both vases have a base ring underneath,
one with a slightly hollow base,
the other with a smooth base.
Height 25.5 cm, diameter 10 cm.
The white undecorated vase stands out for its fine classical form.
Nicely drawn glass with small imperfections such as air bubbles.
These imperfections actually reveal the essence of handwork.
The body of the vase is semi-opaque, inherent to opaline glass.
The bottom and the neck are somewhat less translucent
because the glass is thicker there.
In the relatively flat base a rough pontil mark.
Height 23 cm, diameter 9 cm.
In a display cabinet with lighting these vases come into their own the most:
when light falls from above the effect is many times more beautiful (see photos).
