The promised city originally appeared in de Volkskrant on 4 April 2009. In this issue of the Lojen Deur Pers, the ode to the author's own place of residence appears in book form.

The edition consists of 80 (16-page) copies, bound with cahier-stitching in a paper cover. All copies were signed by the author.

Paul van der Steen designed a full-page frontispiece. Where the Arabic-numbered copies (41–80) have 1 frontispiece, the luxury Roman-numbered (I–XL) contain a second variant frontispiece.

This concerns a deluxe copy with two variants, numbered XII

De beloofde stad verscheen oorspronkelijk in de Volkskrant van 4 april 2009. In deze uitgave van de Lojen Deur Pers verschijnt de ode aan de eigen woonplaats van de auteur in boekvorm.
De oplage bedraagt 80 (16 pagina's tellende) exemplaren, gebonden met cahiersteek in papieren omslag. Alle exemplaren werden gesigneerd door de auteur.
Paul van der Steen tekende een paginagroot frontispice. Waar de Arabische genummerde exemplaren (41-80) 1 frontispice hebben, bevatten de luxe Romeins genummerde (I-XL) een tweede variant-frontispice.
