Description from the seller
Set of six large pressed glass whisky tumblers, cut and crafted in an elegant Art Deco spirit from the mid-20th century. Their sober, geometric silhouette, combined with a particularly luminous faceted decoration, evokes designs inspired by grand place-setting and barware developed in line with Art Deco taste. The glass has a slight crystalline tint characteristic of manganese glass, used to achieve perfect transparency.
Each tumbler adopts a cylindro-conical shape slightly flared, resting on a thick multi-faceted base. The body is entirely animated by a geometric pattern composed of a network of diamond-shaped and pyramidal facets forming a raised diamond motif. Under the smooth rim, a frieze of triangular facets elegantly accents the upper part. The bottoms feature a radiant starburst cut that catches and diffuses light with intensity, enhancing the optical effects of the decoration.
The set is in a remarkable state of preservation. The six glasses are free from chips, cracks, or restorations. The decor remains sharp and perfectly legible, while the glass transparency is preserved. The pieces show only minute traces of handling compatible with careful use.
This type of glassware testifies to the durability of the Art Deco language in tableware. Heirs of the decorative research of the 1920s and 1930s, the geometric facet patterns continued to appeal in the following decades due to their ability to magnify light while maintaining a strong formal sobriety. These tumblers perfectly illustrate this timeless aesthetic, where functionality, elegance, and quality of execution come together harmoniously.
Average dimensions are:
- Height: 10.2 centimeters,
- Upper diameter: 8.7 centimeters,
- Base diameter: 7.2 centimeters,
- Total weight of the set: 1800 grams.
Each of the six glasses will be individually and carefully packaged, and the set will be shipped promptly in secure packaging. In-store pickup and combined delivery are available. The photos are part of the description.
