A gorgeous pair of original Art Deco bookends by the renowned French sculptor Charles Gallot. This iconic set features two stylized gazelles in a dynamic, upward leap, mounted on a decorative backdrop of stylized ferns.
The sculptures embody the essence of Art Deco: speed, elegance, and geometric simplification. The figures are crafted from high-quality régule (spelter) with a deep two-tone patina and rest on sturdy pedestals of beautifully veined marble.
Sculptor: Charles Gallot (signed 'GALLOT' on the base).
Period: Art Deco, circa 1930.
Country of origin: France.
Material: Régule (spelter) with original patina on marble pedestals.
In very good vintage condition. The patina is beautifully authentic. The marble is in good condition with only minimal signs of wear to the edges.
Note: The dark spots on the felt on the underside in the photos were wet spots from cleaning just before the photo session. It has since fully dried and is now even.
This lot will be professionally packed with the utmost care to prevent damage during transport. The shipment is fully insured and sent to the winning bidder with a track-and-trace code.
