The flag is made of cotton with a drawstring for attaching to a flagpole. The marking “C. SQN” refers to C Squadron, a unit of the SAS.
The Special Air Service (SAS) is an elite special operations unit that was originally established within the British Army during World War II. The unit is known for reconnaissance missions, counterterrorism operations and behind-enemy-lines actions. The Rhodesian SAS was a similar special unit in the former Rhodesia (modern-day Zimbabwe) and used the same well-known emblem with the winged dagger.

C Squadron, SAS Regiment was formed during the Malayan Emergency by volunteers from Rhodesia. It was disbanded in 1953 and formed the core of the "C" Squadron (Rhodesian) Special Air Service, which became operational from 1961. In June 1978, "C" Squadron (Rhodesian) Special Air Service was renamed to 1 (Rhodesian) Special Air Service Regiment, until Rhodesia became Zimbabwe in 1980.
