Two 11-year-old whiskies, bottled exclusively for the Travel Retail market, showcase two very different styles of Scotch single malt whisky. The Bowmore 11 Years Old comes from the island of Islay and is bottled at 40% ABV. Matured in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, it offers gentle peat smoke balanced with notes of dark chocolate, red berries, citrus and a subtle maritime saltiness. The finish is smooth, slightly dry and pleasantly smoky. In contrast, the Glenfarclas 11 Years Old represents the rich Speyside style and was bottled at a stronger 46% ABV after full maturation in sherry casks. Its flavour profile is soft and full-bodied, with aromas of raisins, toffee, honey and vanilla, followed by dried fruits, caramel, chocolate and spicy oak on the palate. The finish is warm, long and gently nutty. Although both whiskies share the same age statement and Travel Retail exclusivity, they deliver two completely different whisky experiences — one smoky and maritime, the other rich, sweet and sherried.
