Description from the seller
Beautiful work by the painter Mario Acerbi (Milan, August 18, 1887 – Pavia, 1982) oil on canvas in good condition. The painting measures 48 × 62 cm.
From 1900 to 1909 he attended with profit the Civica Scuola di Pittura di Pavia, pupil of Carlo Sara, Romeo Borgognoni and Giorgio Kienerk, winning in 1907 the Lauzi Prize and in 1910 the Frank Prize (later annulled for procedural defect). The teaching of his father Ezechiele, a well-known landscape painter and leading exponent of Pavese artistic culture, is decisive in his formation, characterized by a painterly language of naturalist origin. Since 1908 he has been present at the Torino and Milan exhibitions with a repertoire of landscapes, portraits and flowers executed after his fathers’ models of greater commercial success. He stands out as a portraitist for Milanese and Pavese commissions, obtaining official commissions from several Lombard entities for which he creates historical paintings and frescoed religious subjects.
