Description from the seller
Beautiful and complete pair of antique religious pressed-glass candlesticks - Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary - France/Belgium - ca. 1920-1940
Beautiful and complete pair of antique religious pressed-glass candlesticks depicting the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Sacred Heart of Mary (Madonna).
The figures are very finely executed in matte/satin glass (frosted glass), which forms a beautiful contrast with the bright, richly decorated tripodal feet and candle holders. This type of glasswork was produced in the early 20th century by renowned glassworks such as Portieux-Vallerysthal (France) or Val Saint Lambert (Belgium).
Condition:
The set is in absolutely pristine condition. No chips, no cracks and no restorations. This is very rare for this type of antique pressed glass, as the sharp edges of the base and candle holder were very vulnerable at the time.
