The painting depicts a suggestive Romantic-style lakeside landscape, characterized by a ruinous tower overlooking the water, trees in autumnal hues, and a small sailing boat in the foreground. In the background, a snow-capped mountain range unfolds, probably inspired by the alpine landscapes of the Lake Geneva area.

The composition, as well as the warm palette and atmospheric rendering, recall the work of Auguste Ravier, a painter active between France and the Alpine region, known for his luminous and poetic landscapes.

Unsigned on the recto; on the verso bears a monogram “AR”, compatible with the proposed attribution.

Good overall condition. A slight patina of time and minimal superficial marks visible upon close inspection.

Frame present, probably contemporaneous or slightly later.
