Markant design vase from Scheurich Keramik’s Pagode series, a ceramic West German pottery piece from ca. 1960–1970, height 46 cm, in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
Description from the seller
Prominent design vase from the famous “Pagode” series by Scheurich Keramik, one of the most important West German Pottery manufacturers. The distinctive form with its rhythmically segmented swellings and the architecturish neck gave the series its name and continues to make it a sought-after collector’s piece from the 1960s and 1970s.
Particularly impressive is the contrasting glaze design. The deep cobalt blue of the upper and lower areas creates a striking contrast to the bright red zones of the body. The middle lava glaze produces an intense, almost glowing texture with fascinating color gradations, giving the object the typical Fat-Lava aesthetic of the era. With its glossy surface and bold colors, the vase works as a stand-alone piece as well as a decorative addition in a collection of German studio ceramics.
Scheurich was one of the leading ceramic manufacturers of the postwar period and exported its designs worldwide. The Pagode models are today among the best-known shapes of West German Pottery and exemplify the expressive formal language and the experimental glazes of the 1970s.
The vase has no chips or cracks.
The item is wrapped in padding foil and enclosed by bio-foam inside a double-walled carton, shipped by DHL.
