Description from the seller
A stunning, antique Catholic rosary with a unique design, an excellent example of traditional Dutch sacred craftsmanship. The piece is made from the so-called second-fine silver (835), which for decades was the standard of noble goldsmiths' work in the Netherlands. The heart of the entire rosary is the rarely seen central heart-shaped connector, on which an ornamental, stylized letter “M” is engraved, symbolizing the Blessed Virgin Mary. The rosary’s construction impresses with its attention to detail, combining classic smooth beads for praying the Hail Mary with larger, finely fluted beads separating the individual decades. The whole is crowned by a richly decorated, Baroque crucifix with a precisely reproduced Passion scene and the INRI plaque at the top. The rosary is coated with a natural, darker patina that emphasizes the depth of the details and gives it a unique, ancient character. This is a distinctive item with a soul, ideal both for daily prayer and for enriching a collection of antique religious artifacts. Condition as shown in the photos, very good with natural signs of time.
