Pierre Alechinsky – L'île (Die Insel), a hand-signed limited edition lithograph from 1979 in Cobra style, 70 × 52 cm, Belgium, framed, printed on Velin paper.
Description from the seller
This expressive and rare lithograph by Pierre Alechinsky is among the artist’s characteristic graphic works and illustrates his unmistakable fusion of gestural abstraction, calligraphic line work, and poetic visual language.
The sheet is hand-signed in pencil by Pierre Alechinsky at the bottom right, and handwritten numbered at the bottom left.
The lithograph was printed on high-quality vellum paper, which brings out the fine contrasts and the distinctive texture of the print especially effectively.
The composition shows Alechinsky’s typical organically abstract forms that oscillate between figure and sign. With energetic black lines, spontaneous gestures, and rhythmic planes, a lively visual world emerges in which influences of calligraphy, Surrealism, and Cobra are woven together in a unique way.
The lithograph is fully documented and listed in the Catalogue Raisonné by Yves Rivière – Pierre Alechinsky. Les estampes de 1946 à 1972 (Paris, 1973) under the work catalog number 54.
The work is professionally framed in a custom, handmade black wooden frame with Plexiglas Optical HC. This high-quality museum framing offers optimal UV protection, high scratch resistance, and minimal reflections.
