Description from the seller
This rare and expressive etching by Pierre Alechinsky is an outstanding example of the Belgian artist's unmistakable visual language and co-founder of the legendary COBRA movement.
The sheet is signed in pencil by Pierre Alechinsky in the bottom right, and handwritten numbered in the bottom left.
Etching on wove paper—handmade paper—that brings out the fine contrasts and the characteristic texture of the print particularly effectively.
The composition lives from a rhythmic interplay of energetic, entwined lines and a central circular form, which gives the work strong visual tension. The reduced color palette directs the viewer's gaze entirely to the expressive structure and the gestural character of the etching—typical features of Alechinsky's graphic oeuvre.
The etching is fully documented and listed in the Catalogue Raisonné by Yves Rivière – Pierre Alechinsky. Les estampes de 1946 à 1972 (Paris, 1973) under the work catalog number 70.
The work is professionally framed in a custom, handcrafted white wooden frame with Plexiglas Optical HC. This high-quality museum framing provides optimal UV protection, high scratch resistance, and minimal reflections. The framed format is approximately 51 x 38 cm
